Track every ruck and weighted vest walk by the weight you carry

For rucking and weighted vest walking, outdoors with GPS or on a walking pad. Packmile counts your load in every calorie and every mile.

Free for Android. No account, no subscription.

What does the weight cost?

0kcal per hour with the load
0kcal per hour without it

Pandolf equation for a 175 lb person on flat pavement. The app uses your own weight, the hills and the terrain.

"My app logs my ruck like a normal walk"

"I carried 30 pounds for an hour and it gave me the same calories as a stroll." Most trackers ignore the weight on your back.
"I switched apps to change a song and the whole workout was gone." Losing a ruck you sweated for is the fastest way to stop logging.
"I have to pay a subscription to see my own distance, and cancelling took three emails."

Calories that count the load

Packmile uses one formula every time: the Pandolf load-carriage equation from military research. After each ruck you see the inputs it used and what the same walk would burn without the weight.

3.1 miles with 30 lb at 3.2 mph: 395 kcal, against 348 kcal unloaded.

Rucks that don't disappear

GPS keeps recording with the screen off. Your ruck is saved every 5 seconds, so if the phone closes the app, it is still there when you open it again.

Ending a ruck takes a deliberate 1-second hold, so a pocket tap never stops it.

Indoors or out

On a walking pad or treadmill, enter the speed and incline and Packmile does the rest, with no GPS needed. Change the speed mid-walk and the numbers follow.

Speed steps of 0.1 mph and incline steps of 0.5%.

Know when to add weight

The 12-week load ladder starts near 10% of your body weight, adds a little each week, eases off every fourth week and stops at a third of your body weight. It moves you up only after you have done the rucks.

Opens after one short video and stays open.

Questions

Is Packmile really free?

Yes. Tracking, history, the calculator and walking-pad mode are free, and there is no subscription to cancel. Ads pay for it and only appear between screens, never during a ruck.

How does it work out calories?

With the Pandolf equation: your body weight, your load, your speed, the grade and the terrain. Every result shows those inputs, so you can check the number instead of trusting a black box.

Does it work on a walking pad or treadmill?

Yes. Choose Indoor, set the speed and incline from your treadmill display, and Packmile counts distance and calories from those. No GPS or location permission needed.

What happens to my data?

Your rucks, body weight and routes stay on your phone. There is no account and no analytics. Location is used only while a ruck is recording. Details in the privacy policy.

How much weight should I start with?

The load ladder starts near 10% of your body weight, adds a little each week, eases off every fourth week, and stops at a third of your body weight. Stop if your back, hips or feet hurt: Packmile is a training log, not medical advice.
